Stroke

11) stroke – blood supply disturbance in the brain.

What to do about a stroke – a chance of survival is to get him in a warm box and

place in the dark where it is also quiet. He will hate you touching him. Leave him for 2-3 hours. Then inject rehydration fluids (or take to the vet or better still get the vet to come to you) as he will not be able to swallow yet. And again in around six hours time. This is vital. When he starts to let you handle him, offer dry feed, hay, a little chopped veg and water in a bottle or a heavy dish that e can’t tip over.

Prognosis for a stroke – quite good if there are no follow up strokes. He may have a slight tilt to his head following recovery.
