About us

Registered with the Charities Commission, number 1121002 since 2007 | Charity Founder: Val Savage B.A.R., Guinea Pig Health Advisor

April Lodge Guinea Pig Rescue was established in 2004 and we have cared for over 1700 unwanted guinea pigs in our 12 year history. We’re proud to say that over 1500 of these went on to be adopted and over 100 went into foster care. We endeavour to find our guinea pigs kind, loving, permanent homes following a poor start in life.

With the support of charitable foundation Support Adoption for Pets, the charity was able to construct a new shelter for the animals in our care, and our new premises had their official programme on 11 August 2013.

We have enclosures for 64 guinea pigs in the shelter

We have enclosures for 9 in the ‘hospital’ (our welfare clinic)

There is space for 15 at our retirement home in Herne Bay

Current max total in our care at any given time at the charity premises is up to 73 (88 including our retirement home)

As a registered charity, we rely entirely on donations and volunteer support, and you can find information on this website about how to make a donation, volunteer, or rehome a guinea pig.

If you cannot find the information that you require, please contact us directly.

Thank you for your interest in April Lodge!
