Calcium Absorbency Problem

12) Calcium absorbency problem – hind quarters weak or wobbly. Difficulty in walking or hind leg paralysis. May be laying on side.

What to do about a calcium absorbency problem – give one whole ml of osteocare from the chemist twice daily for two days, then one whole ml of osteocare daily for three days.

Prognosis – good.

Prevention of a calcium absorbency problem – impossible!

In the event of a younger guinea pig exhibiting the above symptoms, please consider that it could be a trauma-related abnormality.  For example, is the guinea pig, the smaller compared to any cage mates?  Is he getting bullied?  Is he able to eat enough because of the bullying? Is his diet adequate, especially the quality of his hay?
