About us

April Lodge was founded by Valerie Savage in 2004 and became a registered charity in 2007. From small beginnings the charity has grown, and recently moved from its original home in Sandwich to new premises in Eastry.

With the support of charitable foundation Support Adoption for Pets, the charity was able to construct a new shelter for the animals in our care, and our new premises had their official programme on 11 August 2013.

We have enclosures for 64 guinea pigs in the shelter

We have enclosures for 9 in the ‘hospital’ (our welfare clinic)

There is space for 15 at our retirement home in Herne Bay

Current max total in our care at any given time at the charity premises is up to 73 (88 including our retirement home)

As a registered charity, we rely entirely on donations and volunteer support, and you can find information on this website about how to make a donation, volunteer, or rehome a guinea pig.

If you cannot find the information that you require, please contact us directly.

Thank you for your interest in April Lodge!
